Expedition Radio Kit - 2 Radios and 2 Quantum Loops

Expedition Radio Kit - 2 Radios and 2 Quantum Loops

This Expedition Radio Kit pairs two 5-watt GMRS radios with two rugged Quantum Loop carabiner attachments—an all-in-one setup for backcountry communication.

The Expedition Radio is hand-tested to IP67 waterproofing standards (1 meter submersion) and built with protective rubber padding and a shatterproof LED screen. A specialized 1800 mAh battery delivers 4–6 days of life per charge, even in frigid conditions. With 5 watts of transmission power—the legal maximum for handheld GMRS radios—the radio reaches over 35 miles in ideal conditions (2–8 miles is typical in backcountry terrain).

The Quantum Loop Attachment secures your radio where you need it most. The system combines a durable steel-reinforced thermoplastic loop with a climbing-rated Trango Quantum Carabiner, giving you a lightweight yet bombproof way to clip your radio to harnesses and packs. The backup leash adds extra security for demanding missions.

Each Expedition Radio includes both a compact 7.5cm antenna (pre-installed) and a longer 17cm antenna for improved range and stronger weather channel reception. Additional features include NOAA weather alerts, 11 weather channels, dual-channel monitoring, and access to 8 repeater channels to extend communication range.

Designed and tested in the Colorado Rockies, the Expedition Radio Kit is built for climbers, paddlers, skiers, overlanders, and anyone who depends on reliable communication in remote terrain.

Don’t have a GMRS license? No problem, the process is simple and affordable. Please note, this radio is not allowed for use in Canada. Checkout our blog post here.

Like all Rocky Talkie products, the Mountain Radio Kit is backed by our commitment to sustainability and 3 year warranty for personal use, and 1 year warranty for commercial use.
